Now this can be significant. Intel’s PC business has been declining. IoT business is still small compared to PC and servers. And now, there are competitive risks appearing the Intel’s most profitable business. While there have been past unsuccessful attempts by some companies trying to enter the server market, this time the threat seems a little bit serious given that the new servers chips are being manufactured in collaboration with mega data center players e.g. Alibaba, tencent, Amazon and Google. During last few months, many of our clients have asked us to help them find the experts who can clarify the positioning of various IoT connectivity technologies e.g. SigFox, LoRa etc. The key question they want our experts to answer is: “Which of the LPWA (Low power, wide area) connectivity technologies should they bet on? and why?”

SigFox specifically has done a great job in promoting and evangelizing the concept of IoT specific networks. But when it comes to choosing an eventual winner, experts seem to be betting on a standard driven approach (NB-IoT) backed by traditional incumbents.
Reportedly, Amazon aims to sell 10 million Echo units sale in 2017, that will make it a $1B IoT hardware product . Please note that Amazon hopes to sell 3M units in 2016 and sold only 1M units in 2015.
